Eyam Parish Council has contacted the Matlock Hospitals League of Friends asking for guidance on how the Parish Council can make the most of this consultation process to protect our local hospitals;

For the kind attention of

Pam Wildgoose
Matlock Hospitals League of Friends
Thank you for your email of 30th August 2016. The issue of the “Better Care Closer to Home” consultation was raised at the next meeting of Eyam Parish Council on 26th September 2016. The Parish Councillors were unanimous in objecting to the proposed closure of the local hospitals identified in the consultation documents from CCG.
There was concern expressed at;
1) The lack of reliable information on what real changes to healthcare provision these proposals represent.
2) Audited financial projections showing likely costs and savings associated with these proposals.
3) A lack of information about timescales.
4) The fact that the consultation period has been timed to cover the summer holiday period and thus reduce the likelihood of any organised opposition to these proposals being able to form from the Public and Parish Councils.
The Parish Council tasked me, as Clerk, to voice the objections of Eyam Parish Council to these proposals ” in the strongest possible terms”.
I would be grateful if you can advise me on what Eyam Parish Council may be able to do in the short time available to us to make any real difference in influencing this so called “consultation process”.
Thank you and kind regards
Stephen Mansfield
